Ashfield Health, a leading global healthcare communications agency, part of UDG Healthcare, has kick-started 2020 by hitting a major milestone for allegro, its accelerated medical writing development programme.

The fast-track programme has welcomed another 16 talented scientists, taking the total number of people who have started their medical writing careers with Ashfield to more than 100 since its launch in January 2018.

Allegro enables entry-level medical writers to advance their career at an expedited pace, providing top class training and a knowledge of the business from both a scientific and a commercial perspective. At the end of the 12-month programme, recruits join one of Ashfield’s agency teams in the UK as a medical writer.

Allegro’s Programme Director, Neil Marmont said: “Faced with a highly competitive market where experienced scientific and writing talent is rare, we set up allegro, the first initiative of its kind, in order for us to effectively resource our business moving forwards.

“The programme provides coaching, feedback and a focus on individual strengths for an outstanding employee experience, with the long-term aim of developing business leaders of the future.

“Two years on, we now have more than 100 writers who have either completed, or are completing, the 12-month programme with more than 90% of recruits ‘graduating’ as fully-fledged medical writers.

“As a resourcing model, allegro has provided us with a strong pipeline of talented writers to fuel company growth and has enabled Ashfield to evolve to meet business needs.”

The next allegro intake is in April 2020. Anyone interested in joining the programme can find more information here.
